The KPAC Middle School program serves the 3 public middle schools on the island (CKMS, KMS, & WCMS). KPAC-MS is a course for credit, it is not a club or extracurricular program. Therefore, attendance is mandatory and the course must be completed to receive credit.
This course is only offered during the first semester of each school year. The performances happen either the last weekend of November, or the first weekend of December.
Students learn basic acting techniques and have the opportunity to participate in a production on the big stage at the War Memorial Convention Hall (WMCH) in front of middle school audiences during the school day and public audiences over a weekend. (The WMCH seats 1200).
A teacher is selected from each school by the principal or provided by the KPAC coordinator to audition, cast, and direct a 30-minute non-musical play. The cast members and the director meet two or three times a week after school to rehearse.
The three middle schools come together for tech week, dress rehearsals, and joint performances for one week in November/December.
Each of the 3 public middle schools on the island (WCMS, CKMS, & KMS) present one 30-minute play during this joint production at the War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue.
